Yes! Hamilton Studio School is a place for beginners and students of all experience levels.
Drawing is the core skill which informs all other practices in the visual arts.
Students new to art are encouraged to take Drawing and Composition and/or Figure Drawing at an early stage in their artistic development.
Students of all levels are encouraged to draw plentifully.
When in doubt, a drawing class is a good place to start, come back to and carry on with!
One-week intensives provide 25 instructional hours. This is equivalent to a 2.5 hrs class held once a week over a 10-week semester.
Intensives allow students to immerse themselves in their art making. The opportunity for an extended period of focus is invaluable--it brings momentum to the learning process and makes artistic reflection possible.
Intensive are also a great way to prepare for other art experiences like independent art projects, further studies, or travels with a sketchbook!
Absolutely. Taking a class more than once is a good way to consolidate and deepen one's learning.
Please consult the class page for details concerning materials.
We also have a Painting Material List page under About in the menu.
We offer a full refund on 1-week & 2-week intensives and workshops up to a week before the course start date.
There is no refund on missed classes.
