Summer Camp Times

Our studios are located in the Westdale neighbourhood at 99 North Oval, Hamilton (inside Westdale United Church.)

We are a short walk to beautiful natural settings and spend some of our time each session sketching in the RBG trails, and Churchill Park.

Summer Camp Times

Camp Day: 9:30-12noon & 1:00pm-3:30pm.

Supervised Lunch: 12:00noon-1:00pm.

We often take a short snack/activity break in the morning and afternoon session.

Supervised Drop-off time:

9:00-9:30am

Supervised Pick-up time:

3:30-4:00pm

We believe that quality art materials are an essential part of learning in the visual arts--and so are found materials and recyclables!


For most of our Summer Camp programs, materials are included in the cost.  Only Portfolio Preparation students (ages 16+) must bring their own materials.

After payment is complete, Hamilton Studio School will send the registration forms to families through email. We thank you for completing these at your earliest convenience and request that these be returned no later than a week before the session's start date.

Art Exhibition!

Art Exhibitions are an important way for young artists to reflect, grow and share their accomplishments with family and community.  In September 2025, Hamilton Studio School will host its first annual Young Artists' Art Show.  All students in our Summer Camp 2025 are invited to participate!

July Art Camps

ART START

4-day week, full day program

*Please note Tuesday July 1, 2025 is a public holiday with no class

Ages 7-12

A well-balanced, hand-on visual arts program with a range of artful projects spanning drawing, painting, printmaking, visual narrative, and 3-D constructions.

A well-balanced, hand-on visual arts program with a range of artful projects spanning drawing, painting, printmaking, visual narrative, and 3-D constructions.

ARTIST PREPARATION: FIGURE DRAWING

1-week, full day program

Ages 16+

15hrs with a live model + exercises in core

drawing techniques. Excellent introduction

to figure drawing & opportunity to develop

material for entrance portfolios.

Materials:  18" x 24" pad of newsprint or manila paper, black conté, kneadable eraser

2-week, full day program

Ages 7-11

The Immersion program is time for both the creative process and community in the studio to develop and grow.  This year we will dedicate some of our time to a collaborative project--planning and building a TALL visual narrative!
