Summer Camp Times

Our studios are located in the Westdale neighbourhood at 99 North Oval, Hamilton (inside Westdale United Church.)

We are a short walk to beautiful natural settings and spend some of our time each session sketching in the RBG trails, and Churchill Park.

Summer Camp Times

Camp Day: 9:30-12noon & 1:00pm-3:30pm.

Supervised Lunch: 12:00noon-1:00pm.

We take a short snack/activity break in the morning and afternoon session.

Supervised Drop-off time:

9:00-9:30am

Supervised Pick-up time:

3:30-4:00pm

Extended Care

We offer flexible extended care.

8:15-9:30am:  $15/day

3:30-5:00pm: $20/day

Our extended care is supervised quiet playtime with activities like reading, crafts and games.

Extended Care is available for purchase on the Register page.

We believe that quality art materials are an essential part of learning in the visual arts--and so are found materials and recyclables!


For most of our Summer Camp programs, materials are included in the cost.  Only Figure Drawing & Portrait Drawing students must bring their own materials.

After payment is complete, Hamilton Studio School will send the registration forms to families through email. We thank you for completing these at your earliest convenience and request that these be returned no later than a week before the session's start date.

Art Exhibitions are an important way for young artists to reflect, grow and share their accomplishments with family and community.  In September 2026, Hamilton Studio School will host its first annual Young Artists' Art Show.  All students in our Summer Camp 2026 are invited to participate!

This class is designed for young people at the next stage of learning in the visual arts.

STUDIO WEEK: SKETCH LOCAL

1-week, full day program

Ages 11-15

Discover artistic inspiration in the world right around us!  This week we will spend time sketching in nearby locations then take our ideas back to the studio to adapt them into a series of art works.  Learn sketching techniques and work in a range of materials.

July Classes for High School Students

Figure Drawing & Portfolio Prep

1-week, 1/2 day program

9:30am-12noon

Ages 16+

A foundational class that works through a series of core drawing techniques for representing the human form.

No prior experience required.  An excellent opportunity to develop material for entrance portfolios.  Students are encouraged to combine this class with the afternoon Portrait & Costumed Figure Drawing class.


(Please note:  We will be working with a professional nude model in this class.)


Materials to bring: 18" x 24" pad of newsprint or manila paper, conté or willow charcoal, kneadable eraser
